Speaker John Boehner thanked police officers across the country for their service to the country and commitment to keeping Americans safe at home.
"On behalf of the whole House, I want to thank all of our police officers and their families for their service and their daily sacrifices," Boehner said.
The number of police officers killed in the line of duty rose drastically in 2014.
The number of feloniously killed officers rose from 27 in 2013 to 51 last year, an 89 percent increase.
