MSNBC's Ed Schultz said it was clear Friday that former Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki had to go and "the only person who couldn't see that was President Obama."
"It's like the president waited to see how strong the winds were blowing and what direction they were coming from, so he exhausted every effort to keep on the general, the chief of the VA," Schultz said. "But clearly, the Republicans got what they wanted. The question is, are the veterans going to get what they need? And that takes funding."
Facing mounting pressure to step down, Shinseki offered his resignation Friday morning, which Obama said he accepted with regret.
