An overwhelming number of voters reject the idea pushed by Democrats that repealing Obamacare would "make America sick again," according to a new poll that found bipartisan support for repealing the health care law.

The survey, conducted by the conservative American Action Network, found that nearly six in 10 voters disagreed with the statement: "If Republicans repeal the Affordable Care Act, it will make America sick again."

The poll also found that voters in both parties support repealing the Affordable Care Act as long as people are allowed to keep their plans during a "realistic, modest transition period to get a new system up and running."

Forty-eight percent of Democratic voters support the idea of repealing the law with a transition period, compared to 43 percent who reject the idea. Among Republicans, there was 88 percent support for this option, and among Independents there was 72 percent support, according to the poll.

A majority of voters, 54 percent, said Obamacare needs to be repealed or have major changes made to it.

The most common cause of dissatisfaction with the law was that it made health care too expensive (44 percent). Other reasons voters stated were that the law was forced on them (15 percent), that it does not work (12 percent), and that "Obama lied" (4 percent).

The poll asked respondents to rate proposals that have been put forth by Republicans, finding that many were overwhelmingly popular.

Among the most popular proposals were requiring health care providers to be transparent in the price of their procedures, allowing small business pools, eliminating mandates, and allowing for insurance companies to sell plans across state lines.

"Obamacare is collapsing and Americans want to replace it with reforms that decrease costs and increase choice," said Corry Bliss, the American Action Network's executive director. "Our survey makes it clear: voters embrace the kind of improvements Speaker Ryan and House Republicans are working on with the new administration to deliver, rejecting opponents' spin."

The poll comes just after Democrats staged a social media protest of the the Republican plan to repeal Obamacare, attempting to emulate their gun control sit-in last year.

"Tonight, we are taking to the floor and social media to denounce this plan and warn the American people that the Democrats will be fighting tooth and nail against this potentially catastrophic move," said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) in a news release announcing the plan.

Senate Democrats took turns speaking out in support of the unpopular law in a series of videos posted to Facebook along with the "Make America Sick Again" slogan, which even 30 percent of Democratic voters reject, according to the poll.
