Democratic congresswoman Susan Wild (Pa.) had a parking boot placed on her hybrid SUV due to hundreds of dollars in unpaid speeding tickets and other violations, according to photos and records obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
As of late September, Wild owed $775 for four citations between Dec. 7, 2023, and July 31, 2024—two tickets for speeding more than 11 miles per hour and two for failure to secure D.C. tags, according to Department of Motor Vehicles records.
The outstanding tickets rendered Wild's ride inoperable. A photograph obtained by the Free Beacon shows the vehicle fitted with a bright red boot on the front driver's-side wheel.
Wild's car was also photographed parked in a handicap spot in Washington, D.C., in 2022, though there is no handicap parking placard visible in her car.
While Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., do not disclose driver information from license plates for safety reasons, footage obtained by the Free Beacon shows the Democrat entering and exiting the vehicle.
It's the latest car-related woe for Wild, considered one of the most vulnerable House Democrats running for reelection. In 2022, she faced scrutiny for conducting a Zoom video call while driving in heavy traffic. The head of a group that works to combat distracted driving told the Free Beacon at the time that Wild's behavior "sets a really bad example for our children."
Wild, who serves on the House Committee on Ethics, has engaged in other questionable vehicular activity that has not been cited by D.C. police. In one instance,
Wild appears to have switched out bumper stickers on the vehicle over the years. The car now has a bumper sticker of a Ukrainian flag and a ribbon that states "Support Our Troops."
When Wild parked in a handicap spot, the car had a sticker for her congressional campaign and another that stated she "Voted by Mail."
Wild did not respond to a request for comment.
