President Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was destroyed overnight Wednesday by a man with a pick axe, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Trump was honored with his star in 2007 "for his producer job for his Miss Universe shows," according to Walk of Fame spokesperson Ana Martinez.

NBC Los Angeles reporter Jonathan Gonzalez tweeted that a man, according to witnesses and police, walked up the Hollywood star with a guitar case from which he pulled out a pick axe, used the axe to smash the star, and called the police before leaving the scene.

"Multiple people — including police — tell me a man walked up with a guitar case and pulled out the pick axe. Then, it’s believed, he called police himself to report it, but left the scene before they got here. Now, he’s nowhere to be found. @NBCLA," Gonzalez tweeted.

He followed up by tweeting that the LAPD confirmed the suspect had turned himself in to Beverly Hills police.

This was not the first time Trump's star had been vandalized, according to CBS affiliate WAFB.

James Lambert Otis took a sledgehammer to the star in October 2016, when Trump was a presidential candidate. He pleaded no contest to felony vandalism on Feb. 21, 2017, according to the Associated Press and was sentenced to three years of probation, 20 days of community labor and a $4,400 fine for the damage.

Comedian George Lopez pretended to urinate on Trump's star earlier this month, clutching a small water bottle and greeting fans before squeezing the bottle over the star from his crotch area.

The star will be replaced immediately, according to WAFB.
