MSNBC political talk show host Joe Scarborough will host a new show on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) about English Premier League soccer.

The "Morning Joe" host’s new series, "This is Football," is set to launch on Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, Variety reported. It will explore the history, tradition, and rivalries between clubs and their fans.

The first episode will explore the rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City, while also exploring the history and traditions of Manchester in the United Kingdon.

"If Anthony Bourdain can explore culture through food, we ought to be able to do it through football," Scarborough said in an interview.

Scarborough also said the show could become a way for him and his son to connect more since it was his son who got him into soccer in 2006 when he asked him to fill out a World Cup bracket.

The first episode is set to debut at 4 p.m. on Dec. 26 on NBCSN, and will include interviews with former Manchester United players Alex Stepney and Paddy Crerand, as well as Mike Summerbee, who played for Manchester City for ten years.

On Thursday, Roger Bennett, co-host of NBCSN’s "Men in Blazers," will appear on "Morning Joe" to discuss the new series.

Scarborough did make comments about the scheduling difficulties he might face with his morning political talk show and evening sports talk show.

"We do a lot of planning ahead. It is a little bit tougher, but we just have to plan the weekends well ahead," he said.

In the past, Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski have been known to miss episodes of their show frequently, and working on the NBCSN episodes may affect Scarborough's Fridays and Mondays on "Morning Joe."
