The Reverend Al Sharpton butchered the name of a key biblical figure on his MSNBC show Thursday.
"Why did a GOP senator compare John Kerry to Pontius Pilate?" Rev. Sharpton said, eliding the "i" in "Pontius" so the name was pronounced "Pontus."
Pontius Pilate was the Roman administrator of Judea who is famous in the Christian tradition for passing final judgment on Jesus of Nazareth.
Sharpton is a Baptist minister who has a long and fabled history of mispronouncing words. He also has trouble controlling touchscreens.
