A Kansas medical equipment supplier agreed to pay a $1 million settlement on Monday after allegedly making false claims to Medicare for vacuum erection supplies.
The Dodge City company Pos-T-Vac Inc. allegedly submitted claims for penis pumps that were not medically necessary from 2009 to 2012. According to the Associated Press, the claims lacked the documentation and were not properly ordered by a doctor.
While under investigation, Medicare halted payments to the medical supply company. In accordance with the settlements, the government will receive the funds and Pos-T-Vac will make additional payments to the government.
Penis pumps have since stopped being covered by Medicare.
