MSNBC Graphics Department Ignores Anchor's Pleas for Correct Images

August 25, 2015

MSNBC has had its share of on-air miscues over the years and added another to the mix Tuesday, as the graphics department ignored an anchor's insistence to show the correct accompanying images for the story he was reporting.

Daytime anchor Thomas Roberts introduced the report on Old Dominion's chapter of the Sigma Nu fraternity displaying sexually suggestive signs at its off-campus house, but the on-air picture was instead of Owen Labrie, the New Hampshire prep student on trial for rape.

"Take a look for yourself. The banners--That's not the right picture," Roberts said. "Let's go to the banner pictures. The banners are hanging from the off-campus house ... Ok. All right, so, that is not the right story. Yeah."

Roberts gave in and moved on to the next story.
