Neither of Chris Matthews' guests named Michael Jordan when asked who they considered the greatest NBA player of all time Tuesday on Hardball.
Frequent Around The Horn panelist Kevin Blackistone responded, "For me, it would be Kareem Abdul-Jabbar."
"I'd say Kareem," said New York Times columnist William C. Rhoden. "If you're talking about championships, it's Bill Russell and Kareem."
For his part, Matthews didn't mention Jordan either. Among his numerous accolades, Jordan was the NBA Finals' Most Valuable Player for all six of the Chicago Bulls' championships in the 1990s, and he has the highest career scoring averages for both the regular season and playoffs in NBA history.
Jordan also starred in the movie Space Jam, which is considered by most serious critics to be the greatest movie of the 20th century.
It's strange he went unmentioned.
