Actress Lena Dunham said in the most recent episode of her podcast that she wishes she had an abortion to gain more credibility among abortion activists.

The notoriously liberal Hollywood actress made the claim on her Women of the Hour podcast, Heat Street reported Tuesday. Dunham also noted that her mother taught her to never refer to abortion opponents as "pro-life," but rather as "anti-choice."

Dunham said that she first felt this way after she was asked to share a story about having an abortion at a Planned Parenthood facility in Texas. Dunham told the "young girl" asking her for a story that she never had one and felt guilty because she believes she is a part of the stigma of abortion.

"So many people I love–my mother, my best friends–have had to have abortions for all kinds of reasons," Dunham said. "I feel so proud of them for their bravery, for their self-knowledge, and it was a really important moment for me then to realize I had internalized some of what society was throwing at us and I had to put it in the garbage."

Dunham made her desire to have an abortion clear in the latest of episode of her podcast, entitled "Choice."

"Now I can say that I still haven't had an abortion, but I wish I had," Dunham said.

Dunham campaigned extensively for Hillary Clinton's failed 2016 presidential run. Clinton is strongly pro-choice and said on the campaign trail that children do not have constitutional rights on their due dates moments before birth.

Just over 2,000 people had listened to Dunham's podcast, which was released last Wednesday, as of press time.

The podcast can be listened to below. The segment with Dunham's comments on abortion begins at 13:38.
