October 17, 2014

Hunter Biden, the youngest son of Vice President Joe Biden, was discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine.

The younger Biden was 43 years old when he was commissioned as a public affairs officer in the Navy Reserve. He tested positive for cocaine in a June 2013 drug test and was discharged from the Navy Reserve in February 2014.

"It was the honor of my life to serve in the U.S. Navy," Biden said in a statement. "I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge."

Biden is a lawyer and managing partner at the Washington, D.C.-based investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners.

The vice president's office declined to comment.
