Hillary Clinton said she would defeat her husband and former president Bill Clinton in an election match-up during an interview with ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel Thursday.
"I think you've got to have that kind of confidence if you are in this arena trying to be president, so if I were going to run against him, would I win? Yeah!" Clinton said.
Recent surveys show this to be unlikely. Hillary would love to have her husband's approval numbers, given a poll taken earlier this year showing him to be 30 points above-water in positive to negative ratings from the public, 56 to 26. Hillary, meanwhile, is the frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic nomination but had just 33 percent of respondents rate her positively in a recent poll, while 43 percent rated her negatively.
She said potential titles for Bill, were she to be elected, would be First Dude, First Mate or First Gentleman. NBC's Today co-host Willie Geist guessed Bill Clinton might object to his wife's prediction.
"President Clinton's a little competitive," Geist said. "You think they might talk about that over dinner? He could explain why he'd beat her state-to-state."
Hillary Clinton was also unable to convince all four child respondents in a panel put together by Kimmel that a woman should be president, calling into question her abilities to negotiate and appeal to broad demographics.
