A former Florida State University mascot was fatally stabbed by a co-worker during an argument over how much spice to put into a pot of gumbo, the Associated Press reported.

Caleb Joshua Halley got into a heated argument with fellow Buddy’s Seafood employee Orlando Thompson while preparing the award-winning gumbo last Tuesday. The debate lead the two men to arm themselves, Thompson with a wooden cutting board and Halley with a small knife.

Thompson ditched the wooden board and picked up a knife instead. Halley was cut three times in the torso, and died from his wounds Thursday.

Halley was known to Florida State fans as the famous "Chief Osceola" from 2004 to 2007.

Buddy’s Seafood has been a favorite for residents of Panama City since it was founded by a fisherman and his wife in the 1980s.
