A Florida man staged a burglary of his home to avoid work this week, Bay News 9 reports.
Yeager called local police early Monday morning to report that his home had been broken into, claiming that his door and son’s window was open, the blinds were raised, and his TV was on the ground.
Yeager said that he saw "a white, kind of little Honda Civic pulling away," when he returned home. "White, it had kind of like a black fender."
After a witness said they saw Yeager open the window, door, and blinds in question, Yeager confessed to staging the crime so that he could avoid going to work.
"He stated his wife was adamant that he go to work and he didn't want to," the police report read.
Yeager told deputies he was unaware that he could to jail for staging such a crime. His ignorance of the law, however, did not prevent his arrest and transport to the local jail.
