Actor Jeff Bridges, known as the Dude from The Big Lebowski, said on Monday he is "rooting" for President-elect Donald Trump.

Bridges told Entertainment Weekly that his latest film Hell or High Water "shines a light" on why Trump defeated his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton during the presidential election given "how seriously disappointed many people have been in the way that the government is running."

"They have little faith in it, and we'll see," Bridges said. "I hope we don't throw the baby out with the bathwater here. But I'm rooting for the guy, Mr. Trump."

Bridges, who endorsed Clinton during the election, said one of Trump's "most appealing" traits is his unpredictability, or "less kindly," his "hypocrisy."

"Talking about unpredictability, who would have thought that he would be praising Hillary Clinton and thanking her for her wonderful work after trashing her and inviting all of the people who didn't vote for him, that he'd be looking for guidance from these people, all of these wonderful things?" Bridges said, referring to Trump's acceptance speech on election night.

"I'm rooting for the guy, but we'll see how it all goes. You just don't know how it will all work out," he continued.

The film Hell or High Water, released in August, stars Bridges as a Texas marshal tasked with catching two brothers who rob a greedy chain of banks to save their family's land. The film is meant to depict the financial hardships of rural, working class Americans.
