Former NBA star and self-appointed North Korean ambassador Dennis Rodman blew up on CNN's Chris Cuomo Tuesday morning on New Day when asked to speak up for American Kenneth Bae.
Holding an unlit cigar, Rodman became irate when Cuomo pressed him to speak about Bae, held since November of 2012 and sentenced to 15 years of prison, to his friend, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. Rodman actually asked why Bae had been held captive, saying he "would love to speak on this" and appeared to imply Bae may deserve his imprisonment.
Rodman, in a largely incoherent rant, defended the other players there for the basketball exhibition and said Cuomo didn't have to take the "abuse" they did from the American media.
"I don't give a rat's ass what the hell you think!" Rodman said. "I'm saying to you, look at these guys here! Look at them!"
Rodman's strange friendship with Kim has captivated the media and infuriated many Americans given North Korea's well-tracked human rights abuses. North Korea, which has repeatedly threatened its neighbors and the United States, has as many as 120,000 political opponents in prison according to Time.
