President Biden announced Thursday that all federal employees must be vaccinated against the coronavirus and that businesses with more than 100 employees will have to mandate COVID-19 vaccination or face weekly testing.
The requirements are an about-face for Biden, who as president-elect in November 2020 said he wouldn't demand that vaccines be mandatory. In a July briefing, press secretary Jen Psaki said that issuing vaccine mandates was "not the role of the federal government."
