When I said last week that week eight of the college football season would be full of shenanigans, I didn’t imagine that there would be, you know, actual shenanigans.
Five Top 10 squads losing last week upended the rankings and opened the door for Big 12 unbeaten teams Baylor and Texas Tech to join the elite.
Texas Tech and Baylor are fun in that they’re both helmed by first year quarterbacks. That factoid reminds me of an interesting stat: 2006 was the last year a senior player won the Heisman Trophy. Players are getting better faster and are leaving for the pros sooner. Welcome to today's college football!
This week: the Big 12. Let’s get to work.
Oklahoma State -13 @ Iowa State
I can't imagine Oklahoma State winning on the road since they lost to West Virginia.
Texas Tech @ Oklahoma -6.5
Boomer Sooner will hand the first loss to a surprisingly successful Red Raider squad.
West Virginia @ Kansas State -11
Kansas State will hang another road loss on the fading Mountaineers.
Baylor -34.5 @ Kansas
Keep Kansas in your thoughts when Baylor hangs 70 points on another team.
Texas @ TCU -2
I'll give the Horned Frogs defense one last shot at redeeming a disappointing TCU season.
Let’s give some love to Fresno State as they are this season's Cinderella team.
Fresno State -7.5 @ San Diego State
I like the Bulldogs big in an empty SDSU stadium.
Northwestern @ Iowa -4
Northwestern/Iowa is an intense rivalry and I like the Hawkeyes to finally get over a sliding Wildcat squad.
