Take a breath, everybody. We made it to conference play!
Now that we’ve begun the college football season in earnest, let’s take inventory of college football’s "pre-season."
- "Most disappointing" squad goes to TCU, who lost their QB, who had already missed last season after a stint in rehab, to injury.
- Love Baylor's Bryce Petty. Dude is shredding RGIII's gaudy college records.
- "Most surprising" is Maryland. The finally healthy Terps are marching through their schedule.
Since the Terps have a week off to prepare for Florida State and to honor of the ACC’s four undefeated teams, it's time to give the conference its due.
In a belated correction, the Editor’s Blog Intern fact-checked my record and I’m considerably closer to .500 that I thought. I’ll have him count up my record for next week, but to sum up last last week: Arkansas and Michigan screwed me.
As a PSA, kids: Don’t gamble.
Let’s get to work!
Miami (FL) -19 @ South Florida
The Canes' earlier victory over Florida legitimizes Chuck Todd's favorite team.

East Carolina @ North Carolina -12.5
North Carolina can score in bunches.

Virginia @ Pittsburgh -5
Pitt is tricky, but Virginia is inconsistent. Expect this to be closer than five points.

Troy @ Duke -13
The Dukies should win, but two touchdowns is a hefty order.

Florida State -23 @ Boston College
Expect Florida State to let off the gas to prep for next week's game versus a rested, undefeated Maryland squad.

Cent Michigan @ NC State -23
NC State will win, but it'll be a a squeaker.

Wake Forest @ Clemson -29
Clemson will be on a collision course with their October date against the Seminoles.
