It’s conceivable that the ladies competing in Fox’s I Wanna Marry Harry are honest-to-God mistaking a random British bro as the actual prince. After all, the only reason I watch Jimmy Kimmel is for his "man on the street" bits, like when he asks people what they thought about the State of the Union before it happened.
If you haven’t heard, Fox decided to replicate Joe Millionaire, but instead of basing the show around an anonymous One-Percenter, they’ve plucked some dude who kinda-sorta resembles Prince Harry. Once they’ve trained him up on how not to get caught by TMZ, they attempt to pass him off as royalty to 12 clueless American ladies so he can find love in a hopeless place. It shouldn't be too hard; bros have been lying about their identity since the dawn of time.
Humorous premise aside, our Not-Really Harry will be only as strong as his co-stars. Last night's episode was more a table-setter than anything else. I hope we'll see how these ladies react when they learn that they've been hustled.
My personal highlights:
Andrea was Miss Fort Worth USA 2013.
Andrea is joined by Anna Lisa, who was Miss Los Angeles 2013. Whoever was in charge of casting this show deserves a raise.
Another star of the premiere was Maggie. She is on the right. She is not a beauty queen.
Maggie fully embraced the open bar. She enjoys getting turnt up to death.
Some of her fellow contestants did not consider Maggie's frequent visits to the bar "princess-like behavior."
Maggie brushed off their comments.
The MVP of I Wanna Marry Harry last night, though, was Rose. She is a preschool teacher.
Not surprising that she's so far clueless about the con when you consider that she also believes in Santa Claus.
Rose's sunny demeanor won her the first private date of the show. That invite can be a double edged sword, as she now considers herself a target among the other girls. Keep that head on a swivel, Rose.
The other girls wondered why a girl like Rose could have scored the first exclusive date. Her response is as follows.
I like Rose's strategy. She plays to win the game.
