Ratings for RT have to be approaching a record high. With Vladimir Putin borrowing lessons in strong arm tactics from early 90’s Suge Knight, the Kremlin-owned propaganda channel has become must-see TV.
Lovers of democracy and freedom are losers all around. So far, the only winner in this whole escapade is RT anchor/commentator/activist Abby Martin, who pulled a Howard Beale and blasted the people who sign her checks live on-air.
If this viral clip is the first time you've been exposed to Abby Martin and her show "Breaking the News," don't feel badly, I've never heard of her either. Apparently each episode, Abby carries on the proud RT tradition of cashing checks from the Kremlin in exchange for criticizing America.
Ironic that imagery for a Kremlin-financed promo of "Breaking the News" features hammers, considering their history of being paired with walls and sickles. Is Abby a fighter for the proletariat? Is she a contractor remodeling a house? Either way, she's whacking that TV in heels.
Abby's a firebrand who's made her name by being a rabble rouser, following the tried and true method of transitioning from activism into anti-American TV commentary.
Who knows? Perhaps her latest stunt will provide her a larger stage, and she'll follow the gal she replaced on RT to another barely watched online news livestream. There are less-talented 9/11 truthers out there, after all.
Abby writes screeds on how American politics has been bought by corporate interests and yada yada yada yawn. She hates the two-party system, so obviously she's a fan of Dennis Kucinich.
Taking advantage of her newfound stardom, RT decided to dispatch Abby to Crimea to "make up her own mind" and become a late add to my prestigious Sochi Smokes list.
Like I said earlier, moving up in the world!
Leave the hat at home, Abby. The forecast in the occupied country you're being sent to is in the mid-50s.
Let's hope this isn't the Kremlin's way of "permanently moving you to Russia." You know how Vlad rolls and all.
