Theresa Vail’s Top 10 finish at Miss America this year was not the last time we heard of our lovely hero. Thank goodness. And thank goodness for WDAF’s Abby Eden, from whom we learned that Miss 'Murica is barnstorming around Kansas, sharing her message of female empowerment.

Abby is extremely talented in her own right. She is in this week’s local reporter spotlight.

She attended one of the country's best journalism schools at the University of Missouri. I'm sure she's psyched that her Tigers are close to sewing up the SEC South in football this season.

Abby will go anywhere for the latest scoop, even if it means facing her fears. She knows the secret: never let them see you sweat.

When she's land bound, Abby enjoys running. Her niece's sign speaks truth: Abby's got the entire Kansas City-metro area chasing after her.

Like all children of the 80's, Abby loves her some New Kids on the Block. I'm sure Donnie Wahlberg would love her too.

Abby bonds with Theresa Vail because she too, is a beauty queen. She and Theresa even have the same talents. Each is a chanteuse.

Both also came just a bit short in the end. Abby was first runner-up for Miss Missouri in 2007. But she's first place in my heart.

It's great seeing beauty queens go on to do great things.

If Theresa ends up anything like Abby, America will be in good hands.
