Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid clearly thinks Democrats have good reason to fear the possibility of facing Marco Rubio in a general election matchup. He recently compared the Florida senator to Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux, one of the greatest baseball players of all time. The Huffington Post reports:
Told that Rubio had cleaned Bush’s clock in an exchange over Rubio’s poor Senate attendance record, Reid replied, briskly: "I don't think you've got much of a clock to clean there … having Marco Rubio clean Jeb Bush's clock would be like having Greg Maddux pitch to a bunch of high school kids."
Maddux absolutely dominated major league baseball in the 1990s, winning four consecutive Cy Young awards and leading the Atlanta Braves to a World Series title in 1995. He ranks 10th on the list for most strikeouts in MLB history, and 8th in career wins. Maddux was a first-ballot inductee into the baseball Hall of Fame in 2014. Comparing anyone to Greg Maddux is a compliment of the highest order.
Harry Reid and the Democratic Party are clearly (and justifiably) terrified of Marco Rubio.
