Eating Endangered Species: An Obama Fetish?

President Obama appears to have an interesting food fetish: eating endangered species.

Business Insider reports that the restaurant where President Obama dined with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday offers bluefin tuna as part of its "Chef's Recommended Special Course."

Bluefin tuna is an endangered species. TIME Magazine notes that the fish "is a favorite of sushi chefs around the world," but its popularity "could mean its doom."

According to the press pool report, Obama offered a glowing review of the meal upon leaving the restaurant. "That's some good sushi right there," he said.

It’s not the first time Obama has patronized an eatery that offers endangered species for consumption. In February 2012 the president ordered take-out at a renowned Chinese restaurant in San Francisco that still serves shark fin soup, a delicacy often made from endangered species.

This certainly raises some troubling questions, such as: What happens to the tender, delicious golden eagles corpses after the birds are chopped out of the sky by Obama’s wind turbines?
