Chelsea Manning went after MSNBC host Joy Reid on Tuesday for defending Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) on Twitter.
The spat started when Reid criticized a Mic article that said "Democratic rising star" Harris has a problem with progressive, left-wing supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), who are unsure whether she is sufficiently liberal.

Reid then called out a Twitter user who said that Harris is too tied to corporate donors.
I suspect that you know very little about Senator Harris other than what you read in your Facebook friend circle. She is new on the scene.

That's when Manning, a transgender activist and former Army intelligence analyst who was imprisoned for leaking troves of U.S. government secrets, joined the discussion to castigate both Reid and Harris for being "just more of the same."
"We need strong, unapologetic unity now," she added."
all of you 🙄 @JoyAnnReid, @SenKamalaHarris are just more of the same 😩♀️ we need strong, unapologetic unity now 👭👩🌾👫👭 #WeGotThis 🌈😎 https://t.co/cgZWyTCJ5Z

When another Twitter user defended Harris, Manning, a transgender woman, accused the California Democrat of not being genuinely supportive of transgender people.

This is not the first incident involving Reid and Manning. Last week, Reid repeatedly tweeted about Manning in what some observers called "transphobic" comments.
Manning, who used to be known as Bradley Manning, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking classified U.S. government documents, which WikiLeaks then published. Former President Barack Obama commuted most of Manning's sentence before leaving office, and Manning was released in May after serving seven years in prison.
