Dem councilman arrested for DUI

A Democratic city councilor in Auburn, New York was arrested Friday night for driving under the influence after he refused to take a blood alcohol test.

The Citizen reports:

[Auburn city councilor William Graney] was pulled over by state police at 10:37 p.m. in a gray Cadillac Seville for failing to signal a turn. The officer "detected a strong odor" of alcohol on his breath, according to state police.

Graney, 55, said he had four drinks between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., first at the Knights of Columbus club and then at his house.

He said he is going through a divorce and refused the BAC test because he wanted to speak with a lawyer first.
