House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) threw her support behind Rep. Robert Andrews (D., N.J.) despite an ongoing ethics investigation, according to the Hill.
Pelosi and other Democratic leaders in the House are backing Andrews, who is accused of misusing campaign funds for personal travel, despite calls for Andrews to step down from his leadership position as co-chairman of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
The Hill reports:
A spokesman for Pelosi said she has no plans to ask Andrews to step down.
Andrews has maintained his innocence and says the charges against him are "politically motivated." He said the Ethics Committee investigation that was announced on Tuesday would exonerate him.
