Former President Barack Obama will join German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Thursday to promote his foundation's work.
Obama and Merkel will appear together at the Brandenburg Gate, where they will discuss climate change, public health, economic inequality, and other issues, according to CNN.
The event in Berlin is part of Obama's attempt to bring his nonprofit group into the global sphere.
"He and Mrs. Obama have been pretty clear that the foundation will have a global reach," an Obama Foundation official said. "They want to be really involved in programing throughout the world."
The former president is also trying to inspire young people to create change through his outreach.
Obama and Merkel will have a panel conversation titled, "Being Involved in Democracy: Taking on Responsibility Locally and Globally." It will stress the role of faith-based organizations at the German Evangelical Protestant Church's congress, which occurs every two years.
Merkel invited Obama to visit Germany back in the spring of 2016. While Obama is in Europe, President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican, attend meetings at the NATO summit in Brussels, and attend the G7 summit in Sicily.
