Sen. Joe Donnelly (D., Ind.) announced on Sunday that he will support Judge Neil Gorsuch's Supreme Court nomination.
Donnelly now becomes the third Senate Democrat to announce that they will support Gorsuch and break away from the majority of the Senate Democrats who intend on filibustering the nomination.
"After meeting with Judge Gorsuch, conducting a thorough review of his record, and closely following his hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, I believe that he is a qualified jurist who will base his decisions on his understanding of the law and is well-respected among his peers," Donnelly said in his statement.
Donnelly also said that he wants the 60 vote threshold to remain for confirmation.
Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D., N.D.) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) also announced in the last week of March that they would split from Democratic leadership and would support Gorsuch's nomination.
Donnelly, Heitkamp and Manchin are all up for reelection in 2018 and represent states won by President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Their seats are considered vulnerable to being lost to Republicans.
