The Washington Free Beacon's Lachlan Markay told a panel on Fox Business' "Kennedy" Friday morning that President Donald Trump's tweets about Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) commenting on the outcome of the raid in Yemen don't "look good for him."
Host Lisa Kennedy suggested that the public shouldn't be told about the details about raids of this nature.
"Alright, I mean maybe we shouldn't be talking about the details of these missions at all, you know, maybe we shouldn't know about the high-value targets that were captured and the intelligence that we got because maybe that also emboldens the enemy," she said. "But you say this is bad optics."
Markay pointed out that these tweets are just a "continuation" of how Trump acted on the campaign trail, citing the time Trump said McCain was not a war hero because he was captured.
"I mean, this is a guy who got five draft deferments in the Vietnam War, compared having venereal diseases to his own personal Vietnam, and is going after a, you know, a decorated veteran who spent six years in a prison camp," he said.
"I mean, it just–it doesn't look good for him. But, you know, will it hurt him?" he continued. "I mean, it hasn't before."
Kennedy replied Trump's tweets probably won't hurt him, but he and McCain do need to find a way to get along.
Markay argued that Trump must have one "arguably successful operation" so that McCain would compliment him in order to end the feud.
