President Obama mixed up the galactic worlds of "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" Friday while explaining his inability to broker an agreement with Congress on the sequester, saying he thought he was presenting a fair deal and that people expect him to "somehow do a Jedi mind meld with these folks and convince them to do what's right."
Jedis, guardians of peace and justice in the Star Wars galaxy, do not employ mind melds but rather use The Force to trick adversaries. An example is when Obi-Wan Kenobi convinces a stormtrooper he does not possess the droids the Empire is looking for.
