NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt said in an interview published Thursday that Hillary Clinton's perception of being "untrustworthy" has been her Achilles heel throughout the presidential campaign and will not go away anytime soon.
Holt sat down with Women's Wear Daily, or WWD and discussed his career in journalism, his role as one of the presidential debate moderators, and the 2016 election. Holt was asked how he believes Clinton would be as president if she were to win the election.
"Her Achilles heel has been this perception of playing fast and loose with the rules, being untrustworthy," Holt said. "I don't think that goes away. I think that potentially dogs her if she is elected president."
When Holt was asked about Donald Trump, he mentioned the Republican nominee's experience in television as being one of his assets during the campaign, the Hill noted.
"He’s not a politician. He's a gifted–and I say this not in a negative way–showman," Holt said. "I've interviewed Donald Trump more times as the guy from "The Apprentice" than I have as the presidential candidate."
"So, a lot of us know him as a showman," Holt continued. "He's supremely confident."
