CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano is sick and tired of hearing about Hillary Clinton’s damn emails.
During Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate, moderator Quijano was quick to interrupt Republican Gov. Mike Pence (Ind.) whenever he brought up Clinton’s email scandal or questions about her family’s foundation. Quijano interrupted Pence a total of five times. There was one exchange when Pence tied the issue of cyber security to Clinton’s private email server. Quijano interrupted Pence throughout his answer but allowed Clinton’s running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (D., Va.), to respond to Pence without interruption.
Below is part of the exchange:
GOV. PENCE: We have an intelligence–I will also tell you that it’s important in this moment to remember that Hillary Clinton had a private server in her home that had classified information–
QUIJANO: All right, governor, 30 seconds is up.
GOV. PENCE: –on it about drone strikes. Emails from the president of the United States of America were on there. Her private server was subject to being hacked–
QUIJANO: I’d like to ask you about Syria, governor.
GOV. PENCE: We can put cyber security first if we just make sure the next secretary of state doesn’t have a private server–
SEN. KAINE: A full investigation concluded that not one reasonable prosecutor would take any additional step. You don’t get to decide the rights and wrongs of this. We have a justice system that does that, and a Republican FBI director did an investigation and concluded–
QUIJANO: All right, we are moving on now.
Quijano did ask Kaine about Clinton’s low trustworthiness among voters because of her email scandal, but Kaine did not answer the question and Quijano failed to follow up.
