Another crowd started cheering "four more years" at First Lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday when she told the audience at a Hillary Clinton rally that her time in the White House was coming to an end.
"As I’ve been sharing with people as I’ve been going around the campaign trail, we’re almost at the end of our time, our family, at the White House," Obama said at a Clinton campaign event in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The crowd roared in disappointment.
"It’s okay!" she said.
The crowd continued to yell as she tried to console them.
"It’s okay because we–" Obama said.
The crowd cut her off to continue making noise.
Obama tried to calm them down before she started to laugh.
That’s when the crowd broke into the chanting.
"Four more years!" they yelled.
She laughed while trying to silence them, noting the awkwardness that the audience seemed less enthusiastic about electing Clinton than reelecting Obama’s husband.
"The president gets two terms," Obama told them. "Eight years. That’s our democracy. Good things, good things."
The crowd’s cheering died down a little.
Obama tried to continue the speech, referencing the Clinton family.
"But, our job–we have to replace with a good next family, and that’s why we’re here," she said.
This comment was not met with nearly the same enthusiasm that the "four more years" chant was.
Tuesday’s chanting was not the first time that a crowd cheered for another term for President Obama at a rally dedicated to electing Hillary Clinton to the presidency.
