Lezlie Bauler, a front desk associate at Planet Fitness in Maryville, Tennessee, posted a photo on her Facebook page of a firefighter in full turnout gear using the stairclimber machine, and the post went viral.

The firefighter had asked Bauler if he could use the machine to climb 110 sets of stairs to honor the fallen firefighters of 9/11.

The firefighter’s name is Jason Harding, 33, of Knoxville, Tennessee, WCSC reported. Harding was participating in the National Stair Climb, which commemorates who responded during the 9/11 terror attacks.

The climb, put on by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, has more than 2,000 firefighters participate. The annual event was held at Citi Field, where participants climbed 2,200 steps.

It symbolizes the 110 stories that FDNY firefighters took on that hallowed day when 343 firefighters paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The climb is open to everyone, but firefighters that participate normally make the ascent in full turnout gear.

Harding, a public safety officer, was unable to make the trip to New York due to being on duty later that day.
