Democrat Evan Bayh, who is looking to recoup his former Senate seat in Indiana, incorrectly stated his own Indianapolis address this past weekend amid accusations that he is detached from the state.

Bayh told local radio station WISH-TV on Saturday that his address is 1142 C, Canterbury Court in Indianapolis, adding, "it’s on my driver’s license." But the address Bayh gave the station is located several blocks away from his actual home, on Canterbury Square, not Court, according to an Independent Journal Review probe of the Democrat’s Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle records.

The gaffe comes as Republicans criticize Bayh for leaving Indiana after departing from the Senate in 2011. CNN reported last week that Bayh listed his mansion in Washington, D.C. as his permanent address multiple times before entering into the Indiana Senate race earlier this year.

A separate report from CNN published last week found that Bayh is listed as an "inactive" voter in Indiana, the second such occurrence since July 2014.

Despite records showing otherwise, Bayh told WISH-TV he "never left" Indiana upon leaving the Senate and is in the state "all the time, frequently."
