Clinton Aide Had Ties to Clinton Foundation While at State Dept

August 23, 2016

An aide to Hillary Clinton at the Clinton Foundation, in Clinton's State Department, and on Clinton's campaign has a long history of fundraising for the presidential candidate and blurring the line between foundation and State Department activities.

The aide, Dennis Cheng, worked closely with top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, Fox News' Catherine Herridge reported.

While at the Clinton Foundation, Cheng raised over a quarter of a billion dollars before moving to the State Department, where he worked as deputy chief of protocol at the State Department. Cheng is now national finance director for Clinton's campaign.

Herridge highlighted one email Cheng prepared for Clinton while she was secretary of state. The nine-page document included information about 67 VIPs attending a Clinton Foundation dinner, and was sent to Clinton’s private email account.

In another email from 2012, Cheng told Abedin he was going to fly on a private jet to Little Rock, Arkansas with Clinton Foundation donors. He asked Abedin if she wanted to join. Abedin accepted the offer.

The State Department has repeatedly said there are no rules prohibiting State Department employees from interacting with Clinton Foundation employees.
