Hillary Clinton spokeswoman Karen Finney appeared to confirm Tuesday that Clinton will reveal her running mate selection on Friday, three days before the beginning of the Democratic National Convention.
CNN host Wolf Blitzer said to Finney that he suspected Clinton would make her announcement "this coming Friday."
"I expect that’s about right," Finney said.
Clinton’s team has reportedly vetted several candidates, among them Sen. Tim Kaine (D., Va.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), Adm. James Stavridis, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.
Finney added that she did not want to "spoil the surprise" by going further into who the selection may be.
"That person is going to be revealed to the country in due time, and you’ll also get to learn about that person next week at our convention," she said.
The full exchange is below:
WOLF BLITZER: Let’s talk a little bit about the vice presidential selection that Hillary Clinton has to make. I take it it’ll be announced next Friday, this coming Friday.
KAREN FINNEY: I expect that’s about right.
BLITZER: And then she’ll do 60 Minutes with her vice presidential running mate, the way Donald Trump and Mike Pence did 60 Minutes on that Sunday. Is that the game plan?
FINNEY: That’s usually what’s done. I don’t want to spoil the surprise though for you, Wolf.
BLITZER: That’s what the expectation is. Is it down to two or three finalists right now, or has she already made up her mind?
FINNEY: You know what, Wolf? I am not going to do anything to spoil the surprise in talking about who the vice presidential nominee is going to be. That person is going to be revealed to the country in due time, and you’ll also get to learn about that person next week at our convention.
