While presidential candidates have been repeatedly questioned about the Iraq war, Hillary Clinton’s promotion of intervention in Libya has gone comparatively unmentioned.
MSNBC host Chris Hayes asked why that is on All In With Chris Hayes Tuesday.
"How about this—how about the Libya intervention, which we know that the Secretary of State Clinton pushed for, is on the record for, which is, I think, very difficult to view as a success in any way, shape or form as ISIS takes a stranglehold there, as Libya is essentially in ruins, and yet no one seems to want to litigate that," Chris Hayes said.
"People want to talk about Benghazi. They want to talk about Iraq. And yet, here is a very real thing that actually happened that the woman who is running actually participated in and as far as I can tell, is not getting litigating anywhere."
The intervention in Libya created chaos in the country, and the Islamic State has made serious inroads in Libya. The U.S. now fears that Libya will become a critical foothold for the IS caliphate.
The Washington Times reported that the Pentagon did not trust Clinton, and that she advocated for military intervention that surpassed Obama’s actions.
Republicans have faced a tough week of media criticism in their responses in regard to the Iraq War. Hayes is now pushing for Clinton to come under similar scrutiny.
"There’s no reckoning that seems to be as large as the problems created," Hayes said.
