Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to a joint session of Congress has infuriated quite a few Democratic members of Congress. The number of Democratic members that are boycotting the speech is up to 15,--16 if you include Vice President Joe Biden. There is now one more to add to the increasing number of Democrats not attending: Secretary of State John Kerry.
When State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki was asked if Kerry would not be attending the speech because of the circumstances surrounding his visit, Psaki responded it was because of "working travel arrangements" and would "probably going to be out of town."
AP reporter Matthew Lee questioned Psaki on the sudden travel and lack of appearance for both the Vice President and the Secretary of State. Psaki stumbled on where exactly the Vice President might be on March 3. She claimed it was possible that the Vice President would be in Panama for the inauguration of the new Panamanian government.
Psaki reassured State Department reporters that Kerry and Biden’s lack of appearance at the speech was not a snub.
