Valerie Jarrett: 'We Do Think Our Strategy is Working' Against the Islamic State

The Islamic State's growth and expansion has been linked to the planned terrorist attacks in Belgium and a recently released a ransom video demanding money for the exchange of two Japanese citizens.

The United States started airstrikes against IS in Syria little more than three months ago, but the radical Islam group has gained ground and expanded.

Ahead of the State of the Union address Valerie Jarrett joined CNN's Jake Tapper in teasing what might be in the President's address this evening. Tapper raised the question that it might be time to change the United States' strategy.

"We do think our strategy is working," said Valerie Jarrett.

In August, Obama appeared before the White House Press Corps and admitted that he doesn't have a strategy yet. The Wall Street Journal also recently reported that the United States airstrikes have failed to prevent ISIS militants from expanding and their control.

"It’s really raising questions about the US strategy for the Middle East," Dion Nissenbaum of the Wall Street Journal said.
