NYPD Officers All Turn Backs On De Blasio When He Enters Room

December 22, 2014

After two NYPD officers were assassinated in broad daylight Saturday, their fellow NYPD colleagues turned their backs--literally--on Mayor Bill de Blasio, claiming he had 'blood on his hands' for encouraging protests against the NYPD following the grand jury decision in the Eric Garner case.

As de Blasio entered a press conference following Saturday's shooting, police union members turned around to allow de Blasio and his staff to walk through the somber room of NYPD officers with their backs facing the mayor.

WPIX11 captured the protest, which came after Sergeants' Association president Ed Mullins said de Blasio had 'blood on his hands':

"It is your failed policies and actions that enabled this tragedy to occur," Mullins said.

"I only hope and pray that more of these ambushes and executions do not happen again."
