Iranian Supreme Leader Spokesman: Obama 'Knocking On Every Door' to Meet Iranian President

December 8, 2014

Mohammad Golpayegani, head of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's office, announced to Iran's official broadcast channel IRINN that President Obama was "knocking on every door" to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during a statement on November 30.

In a clip translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Golpayegani suggests that Obama's desperation to meet with Rouhani demonstrates Iran's "strength."

"When you see the American president knocking on every door just to meet our president for a few minutes, this is no trivial matter," Golpayegani said.

Golpayegani also noted that while Obama feels other world leaders are beneath him, he goes to great lengths to reach out to Rouhani.

"Some people lurk in the UN corridors just to get the chance to shake (Obama's) hand, and he does not even deign to do that," Golpayegani said. "Yet he sends mediators and goes to such efforts (in order to meet Rouhani). This demonstrates our strength."
