Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) will attempt to force a vote in the U.S. Senate on Thursday on a bill that would require the White House to get approval from Congress on any deal it may sign with Iran as a result of negotiations.

Graham will try to force a roll call vote to force the Senate into taking a straight up or down vote on the Iran Nuclear Negotiations Act of 2014, which would mandate congressional review of any final deal with Iran and prevent it from being implemented without this legislative approval.

As the Nov. 24 deadline for talks between Tehran and the West gets closer, Graham is seeking to carve out a role for Congress, which currently does not have to sign off on a potential deal.

"Graham has long been skeptical of Iran’s nuclear ambitions and warns the national security implications of a nuclear Iran are unimaginable," the senator's office said in a press release.

In addition to requiring a vote on any potential deal, the Iran bill would stop the Obama administration from extending the talks any further and enforce Iran's compliance with limits placed on its nuclear program.
