New Ad Slams Mark Begich Over Broken Promises

October 20, 2014

A new ad released by American Crossroads hammers Sen. Mark Begich (D., Alaska) for his failure to follow up on promises in previous campaigns, including his 2008 pledge to open Alaska's Arcit National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas exploration.

The ad, titled "Six Years," highlights six years of Begich's broken political promises and his consistent voting record along Democratic party lines.

"Six years ago, Mark Begich promised to be independent," the ad's narrator said. "Then, Begich voted with Barack Obama 97 percent of the time."

The ad points out that although Begich promised he would fight to open up ANWR for drilling, it remains closed six years later due to a failed senate vote in 2012.

"We’ve had six years of Mark Begich’s broken politics," the narrator said. "Alaska needs a change."
