Tillis Slams Hagan for Skipping IS Briefings for Fundraiser

Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis slammed Senator Kay Hagan (D., N.C.) for skipping Armed Services Committee briefings on the Islamic State (also known as ISIL or ISIS) to attend fundraisers.

"When you have the threat of ISIS, you show up for work," Tillis said. "When you miss more than half of your committee meetings, when you sit on the Armed Services Committee, and you know that ISIS is the threat that it's emerged to be, you show up for work."

Tillis said the hearings should have been the "highest priority" and blasted Hagan for failing to show up so she could attend a cocktail party fundraiser in New York City instead.

"What on earth could be more important than understanding the threat to our men and women in uniform and the threat that ISIS poses in the Middle East and to our own safety and security?" Tillis asked.

"Apparently Senator Hagan thinks that a cocktail fundraiser hosted on Park Avenue by a Wall Street executive is a better priority than doing her job in Washington."
