Heritage Action CEO Michael Needham shook off suggestions that 2014 won’t be a wave election year for Republicans Sunday, suggesting that the GOP run embolden campaigns about substance rather than just merely running out the clock until Election Day.
MICHAEL NEEDHAM: The problem the Republican Party has, too many people are sitting around, waiting for a wave to take them across the election. If you want a wave, you have to paddle. I think the Republican Party over the next few months can do great things to show they're a party in favor of opportunity. The Export/Import bank, which the president has called a fund for corporate welfare, comes up for reauthorization. The Republican Party should stand strong and say if you give us control, we'll make sure it's all Americans that are taken care of and not lobbyists the president of the United States plays golf with. You can't do that by keeping your head down, for not standing for something. That's what everybody out there is waiting to see so we can have this wave election. I think we'll deliver 52, 53, 54 seats if you try and fight the wave.
