What Do Redskins Fans Think About Changing the Team's Name?

With Labor Day next week, America will return to being inundated by a cascade of the only thing more obnoxious than midterm political ads; the debate over the Washington Redskins team name.

MRCTV went to the Skins/Browns game last week to ask fans of both squads about their opinion of the name. Fans on both sides were overwhelming in favor of the Redskins team name and threatened to boycott games if Dan Synder ever succumbed to the mounting minority pressure.

"They had it all these years and no controversy and all of a sudden it’s a big issue. Why?" said one lifelong D.C. resident and Skins fan who likely remembers the last time the team was any good.

"If (Dan Synder changed the name), I wouldn’t watch the Redskins anymore," said another.

"When you said the word ‘Redskin’ to any individual, the only thing they think of is the NFL football team," said another fan that dressed like famed Redskins super fan, Chief Zee.

"I think Obama is trying to pick the poltical correct way to go," said one fan who said she would be unhappy if the name was changed.

MRC found one person who was unhappy with the name.

"Where did the name Redskins come from? The Europeans decided to call them redskins. It’s just like the Europeans decided to choose the ‘n’ word. We weren’t worn with that, it was given to us," said one fan who wore a t-shirt adorned with the Redskins logo that turned to give Dallas Cowboy fans the middle finger.
