Retired Army specialist Josh Fuller claims that he and other soldiers were told to "keep quiet" about Bergdahl’s desertion, and that suspiciously precise attacks on military bases occurred soon after Bergdahl disappeared.
"We had all known that it was -- that he had deserted his post," Fuller said Wednesday on Fox and Friends, "And there was never anything about him getting captured or a POW until a little while later whenever it came down from the chain of command that we needed to keep quiet about it, not say anything, and that ‘we're going with the narrative that he was captured.’"
Fuller alleged that attacks on the base after Bergdahl left "were very precise and very accurate", appearing to exploit tactics that only someone from the base would know about. "You could tell it was from somebody on the inside that had that info."
Fuller knew Bergdahl, although he served in a different battalion. Fuller first met Bergdahl in 2008 in Alaska, and described him as someone who "kept to himself and didn't really hang out with too many other people."
Reacting to a video of State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf suggesting that Bergdahl’s squad mates are not good authorities on the circumstances of his capture, Fuller said, "it was a little hard for me to hear, and it's completely false."
